Last night i had a look around “pick me up!” described as the uk’s first contemporary graphic art fair.

Hosted within the inspiring confines of Somerset House’s Embankment Galleries, featuring a diverse array of graphic artists and collaborative works.

Pick me Up!’s host Glug curated enlightening talks that provided a glimpse into the creative minds of talents such as  Chrissie MacDonald, Emily Fogot, and Nobrow’s Sam Arthur. Amidst a wealth of inspiration, several standout artists caught my attention.

Tom Rowe

Tom’s artwork exudes a delightful air of nostalgia, particularly in his exploration of vintage analogue recording equipment. Teaming up with Nobrow, Tom, a graduate of the University of Brighton and a member of the graphic design collective Evening Tweed, brings a unique perspective to his work. Dive deeper into his creations on the Nobrow Blog.

Andy Gillmore

Andy Gillmore’s abstract and geometric colour work transported me back to the days of colour theory at Art College. Based in Rochester, New York, Gillmore has left his artistic mark on prestigious platforms like The New York Times and Wired Magazine. Beyond his vibrant colour compositions, his hand-drawn pieces showcase organic forms, showcasing his exceptional draftsmanship.

Claire Scully

A 2006 graduate of Central Saint Martins with an MA in Communication Design, Claire Scully boasts an impressive client roster, including The New York Times, The Guardian, Penguin Books, and Wallpaper*. Her remarkable skills span various mediums, from photography and painting to drawing and digital art. Explore her diverse portfolio here.

Rob Ryan

Renowned for his whimsical and delicate artistry, Rob Ryan captivates audiences with enormous yet intricate paper cuts replicated as screen prints. For the duration of the Contemporary Graphic Art Fair, Rob and his team relocated their studio to Somerset Hous. Ryan, offered visitors an immersive glimpse into his creative process.
